A Little About Me

I’ve always had a deep desire to help people. From a young age, I was fascinated by the human mind and behavior and found myself wondering why people think, feel, and respond the way they do. That curiosity eventually grew into a lifelong passion for psychology and ultimately led me to become a therapist—a career that I genuinely love and feel honored to be a part of.

To me, being a therapist is much more than a profession—it’s a privilege. Every day, I have the opportunity to support people through some of life’s most vulnerable moments, and I never take the trust my clients place in me for granted. My goal is to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe to be yourself, explore your experiences, and discover your own capacity for healing and growth. I believe meaningful change happens through a collaborative relationship where you feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Early in my professional journey, I became deeply interested in trauma-informed care and the growing understanding of how our experiences shape the brain, nervous system, relationships, and sense of self.

My approach has been influenced by the work of many leaders in the fields of trauma, attachment, neuroscience, and EMDR, including Dr. Francine Shapiro, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Janina Fisher, Dr. Gabor Maté, Dr. Arielle Schwartz, Dr. Lindsay Gibson, and Dr. Ricky Greenwald, to name a few. Witnessing the profound impact EMDR can have on people struggling with trauma, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, and other challenges inspired me to pursue advanced training early in my career. I remain committed to lifelong learning through continuing education, consultation, and thoughtfully integrating evidence-based approaches that are tailored to each client’s unique strengths, experiences, and goals because I believe every individual deserves care that is as unique as they are.

Outside of therapy, you’ll often find me spending time outdoors. I love kayaking, hiking, birdwatching, exploring nature, and simply slowing down enough to appreciate the world around me. I have a special love for animals and am always excited to learn more about wildlife and the natural world.

When I’m not outside, I enjoy curling up with a good book, reading poetry, watching a favorite movie or TV series, discovering new places to explore, and spending quality time with family and friends.

I also love taking walks with Lani—my partner’s dog who has very much become my dog too—and working alongside my partner as we build our home in the hills. Whether I’m learning something new, spending time in nature, or connecting with the people and animals I love, these moments help me stay grounded, curious, and present.

I chose the name Endless Growth Counseling because I believe growth is a lifelong journey. Healing isn’t about becoming someone completely different—it’s about reconnecting with your strengths, building resilience, and creating a life that feels authentic and meaningful to you. While the path isn’t always linear, I believe every person has the capacity to grow, and my hope is that you leave each session feeling supported, understood, and empowered with the tools and insight to continue that growth long after our work together. It would be an honor to be part of your journey.

Meet Sarah Elkins, LPC, NCC

Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and finding a therapist who feels like the right fit can make all the difference. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to move toward lasting change.

I’m Sarah Elkins, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. Through Endless Growth Counseling, I provide secure online therapy for adults throughout Virginia, helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, and emotional overwhelm.

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of clinical settings, including community-based mental health, intensive in-home services, and crisis response. Those experiences have shaped my understanding that healing is never one-size-fits-all—every person deserves care that honors their unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

I have a special passion for working with neurodivergent adults, including individuals with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and other neurodiverse experiences. I’m also committed to creating an affirming, inclusive space for people from all backgrounds, including women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I offer secure telehealth appointments throughout Virginia, making compassionate, evidence-based therapy accessible from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

"Healing isn't about becoming someone different—it's about understanding yourself with greater compassion, recognizing your strengths, and building a life that feels authentic, balanced, and meaningful."

A Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based Approach to Healing

Every person’s story is different, which is why I tailor therapy to your individual needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences while building practical skills that support lasting emotional well-being.

As an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, I have advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and use EMDR as part of a thoughtful, individualized treatment plan when it’s appropriate for your goals. EMDR can be highly effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, and other experiences that continue to impact daily life.

Beyond EMDR, I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to provide holistic, client-centered care that addresses both emotional and physical responses to stress and trauma. Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate:

Rather than focusing only on symptom reduction, I believe meaningful healing comes from understanding the whole person—your experiences, relationships, nervous system, strengths, and values. Together, we’ll create a therapy approach that feels supportive, collaborative, and sustainable.

Experience Working with Diverse Communities

Throughout my career, I’ve supported individuals facing a wide range of emotional and life challenges, including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma and PTSD, relationship concerns, work stress, burnout, low self-esteem, mood disorders, family conflict, and major life transitions.

My clinical experience across community mental health, crisis intervention, and intensive in-home treatment has given me the opportunity to work alongside people from many different backgrounds and life experiences. These experiences have strengthened my belief that therapy should always be compassionate, culturally responsive, and tailored to each individual.

Whether you’re navigating a recent life change, processing past trauma, managing ADHD, or simply looking for a space where you can better understand yourself, my goal is to meet you where you are and support you in creating meaningful, lasting growth.
